More Derby? Why Yes Please!

Pop pop took Tuffer to the Regional Pinewood Derby!

The races where close! The cars where fast! The track had a laser finish timer! It was cool.

He won his age division! So then he raced for overall fastest and...

....WON!!!!!!

Tuffer's car all finished and the wheels lubed. I love the special paint job!

Matthew's car needed a little extra weight at weight in. The boys did such a nice job on their cars.

The Alexander boys did great again this year though not 1st place they still placed 3rd- Matthew and 5th-Tuffer. It always nice to give others a chance to be first. ;) I think everyone was happy for that, there sure was a loud roar from the crowd when Tuffer's car lost its first race. They're cars were still my favorite! And they get to the Distric Derby race on the 24th of March.

Just for the record Matthew's Car (with Sherman's help) beat Tuffer's Car (PopPop's help).
*UPDATE*
After some wheel adjustments to Tuffer's car they both went on to the District Derby where Tuffer WON! He gets to go on to the Regional Derby in a few weeks! NICE!

The Process Begins

After many days of planning the boys are finally ready to have there pinewood derby cars cut out.

Tuffer is getting help from Pop pop.

 

Sherman is helping Matthew with his first pinewood derby car.

Now they can start the sanding!

More Derby

The Boys went to the District Pinewood Derby again this year.

Here they go again.

It took along time to get through all the cars. Nicholas who had been running around playing showed up with his face cover in blood dripping from his head. It looked bad but as I wiped him down in the bathroom it turned out to be only a small wound on top of his head. Thankfully. We aren't sure how he did it but it was certainly an eye opening mess for such a small thing. Chalk it up to boys. But for the most part this picture pretty much sums up the whole event.

Race Day!!!

The lunch bet was set (loser buys) the race was on. Here they are prepping the cars for the weigh in.

They did it AGAIN!!!  But opposite of last year.  They took FIRST:

I guess we are buying lunch again this year! Good job boys I am proud of the work you did and your sportsmanship.

Derby Dual: In The Making-Tuffer's Car

Tuffer choose to do a very interesting design. I was eager to see just how it would come out. They drill pressed holes for the weights and sanded and sanded some more.

They had these cool weight things that also kept the wheels from falling off.

Then came the multi-color paint job it involved much taping and spraying.

Add the decals, and Vola! A lot of work but a very nice paint job!
